Loewer Powersports has been serving CenLA for over 30 years! We are a family-owned and operated, full-service powersports, marine, and equipment dealer located in the heart of Louisiana. The Loewer family had been farming in the area around Eunice, Louisiana since 1923, so Wil Loewer literally grew up on the family farm. The mechanics of farming had always held a special fascination for him, and by the time Wil was a teenager, he and his brother were maintaining all the family's farm equipment. It was this love for all things mechanical that led to his engineering degree. "I had always enjoyed that side of farming and looked at going into engineering because if the farm didn't work out I would have something else to turn to," said Loewer. Wil Loewer's instincts proved right when he was forced to have back surgery in 1983. "The doctor told me I had two choices, change the way I farm or look to something else." Loewer said, "So in 1985 we opened a Honda dealership in Eunice." Once again, with diversity in mind, Loewer took on the Yamaha® dealership in 1989 and slowly began building one of the state's largest multi-line powersports dealerships. 1990 saw Wil Loewer move his dealership to Alexandria because his customers were shopping in larger market areas. He also picked up the Kubota line of tractors and mowers. Success was not easy to come by. "We had a plan to operate leaner than other dealerships and because of our determination to shave expenses to the bone, we were able to grow where others might have failed." In 1995 the Loewer family began construction of the building they now occupy at 5909 Coliseum Blvd. At the time, Hwy 28 West was barren. The highway had not developed into the business corridor it is today. Since the move, Loewer has added several lines of ATVs, and a second line of mowers, chainsaws, and power equipment for yard maintenance. 2015, marked the 30th anniversary of Loewer Powersports, a company born from the desire to diversify. Diversification has continued with the addition of personal watercraft and boats. "I have always believed that we cannot know what tomorrow will bring. It might be a feast or famine. But, if you plan and prepare, you'll be ready for both. If you position yourself to take advantage of whatever life offers, your chances to prosper are much better," said Loewer. "If you treat your customers fairly and offer them terrific value for their hard-earned dollar, you can't go wrong."
