ABOUT ROSENAU POWERSPORTS - DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI

Michigan ATVs, motorcycle, side by side, power equipment & UTVs dealer. Dealership History It all started in the year 1971 when Pete Rosenau opened Pete's Custom Cycle Center, a small motorcycle repair shop, in Detroit, MI. In 1973, he opened Parts Galore, which was the largest supermarket-style motorcycle parts and accessories store in the Metro Detroit area. A warehouse was added in Garden City, MI to import and export parts and accessories worldwide. Business was growing and so was Pete's entrepreneurial spirit. In 1979, Rosenau purchased Honda City, a Honda motorcycle and automobile dealership, and an adjacent building on Michigan Ave in Inkster, MI. The property consisted of a west building for Honda motorcycles, automobiles, parts and service; a warehouse for motorcycles, parts and accessories, and an east building where the go-go bars were located. Rosenau replaced the go-go bars with Parts Galore in the east building location. Parts Galore moved to Garden City, MI in 1982. The west building was remodeled for an exclusive Honda automobile showroom and renamed Rosenau Honda; the east building was expanded for an exclusive Honda motorcycle showroom. The latter retained the name Honda City. Through the mid-80s, Honda City was the number two Honda scooter retailer in the world. In 1989, it was the number one Honda Goldwing motorcycle dealer in the U.S. Honda annually awarded Honda City the gold service award for their high-quality service. This award was presented to only the top 2% of dealers nationwide. In 1984, Honda named Rosenau the top auto dealer in the zone in customer satisfaction; in 1986 Honda named Rosenau top QDS dealer for quality delivery. From 1984 through 1986, Rosenau also owned a Toyota and Subaru dealership in Flint, Michigan. Also in 1984, Rosenau founded Westwood Leasing Company to lease all makes and models of cars and trucks. By 1992, over 500 cars were out on lease. Over the years, improvement continued including the acquisition of additional property and demolition of 11 rundown houses and a gas station. In 1988, the auto service and parts department were moved to a new rear building. In July 1990, Rosenau bought Ruttman's, a motorcycle, snowmobile, ATVs and watercraft dealership located at 24732 Ford Rd, Dearborn Heights, Michigan and renamed it Rosenau Powersports. Honda motorcycles moved to that location. Rosenau Powersports now consisted of 16 franchises of motorcycles, ATVs, scooters, snowmobiles and personal watercraft as well as used vehicles, parts, accessories and service. All of this wouldn't have been possible without the teamwork and tremendous effort of the many employees who have given so much over the years. The continued future success of Rosenau Powersports relies on the positive, hard-working, team-building employees who currently strives to satisfy all of our customers' needs.
