The Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing 450 team heads into the 2026 SuperMotocross World Championship season ready to battle for the crown. Three-time 450SX Champion Cooper Webb looks to defend his 450SX title, with the 2021 250SX West Champion Justin Cooper once again joining him to head the campaign in Monster Energy AMA Supercross. Moving up to the 450 team in 2026, Haiden Deegan will first defend his 250SX West Championship aboard the YZ250F before joining his teammates in the premier class in Pro Motocross and for the SMX Playoffs.

Founded in 1999 by entrepreneur Bobby Reagan, Star Racing built a reputation as one of the top privateer teams in supercross and motocross. In 2005, that reputation ultimately secured the support of Factory Yamaha.

As a long-time partner in the 250 support class and amateur ranks, the team has enjoyed a history of success with multiple titles. In 2020, Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA (YMUS), announced a partnership with the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team to field their campaign in both the 450 and 250 classes of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross and AMA Pro Motocross Championships.

2021 marked a stellar debut season in the premier class for the team. After a solid start to the year in Supercross, with all three riders earning their first 450SX podium and ending the year fourth, fifth, and sixth in the standings, they really hit the ground running in the outdoor season. Dylan Ferrandis claimed the title a weekend early with six overall wins and never finished off the podium. The accolades continued as Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A., earned Manufacturer of the Year honors, and the Monster Energy Star Yamaha Racing Team was named Team of the Year.

In 2022, the team enjoyed another year at the top. Eli Tomac joined the team and was quite at home with the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing squad and the YZ450F. The multi-time champion went on to have a monumental year, securing both 450 Supercross and Motocross championships, taking seven supercross victories and 14 moto wins. He also earned his first ESPY Award in the Best Athlete, Men’s Action Sports Category, was captain of the victorious Team USA at the Motocross of Nations, and won more supercross races overseas during the off-season.

Tomac found success straight away aboard the all-new YZ450F in 2023, taking victory at the opening Monster Energy AMA Supercross round in Anaheim, California. The Coloradan carried on winning, topping his own record at Daytona Supercross and advancing to second on the all-time win list with his 51st-career 450SX victory in Glendale, Arizona. He and the team were on course for another title, holding a commanding lead in the 450SX Championship. Unfortunately, Tomac incurred a season-ending injury while leading the main event at the penultimate round in Denver, Colorado.

2024 was a welcome return to the team for Webb, who enjoyed a successful first full season aboard the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing YZ450F. The North Carolina rider battled for the 2024 450SX Championship all the way to the final round, ultimately finishing runner-up in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross 450SX Championship. Unfortunately, both Webb and Tomac sustained thumb injuries during Supercross and were sidelined for 10 rounds of the 31-round SMX World Championship. Despite those challenges, they picked up a lot of momentum in the postseason, with Tomac finishing third in the 450SMX standings and Webb fifth. Both riders also stepped in on short notice to fill in on Team USA at the 2024 Motocross of Nations, with the team coming just three points shy of victory at Matterly Basin. Their teammate, Justin Cooper, had a strong rookie season, scoring multiple podium finishes and finishing fourth overall in the Pro Motocross 450MX standings.

Another number-one plate was added to the door of the team’s 450 truck in 2025, with Webb taking top honors in the 450SX Championship. Tomac was unfortunately sidelined for most of the Supercross season, but returned for the outdoor season and finished third overall in both 450MX and 450SMX. Cooper continued to make forward strides during his sophomore season in the premier class, finishing third in 450SX and fourth in 450MX. The New Yorker’s consistently strong results in both Supercross and Motocross earned him the top seed heading into the SMX Playoffs. After the season concluded, both Cooper and Tomac answered the call to represent their country at the Motocross of Nations, with their efforts contributing to a runner-up overall finish for Team USA at Ironman Raceway.

In 2026, Haiden Deegan joins Webb and Cooper to complete a powerhouse lineup for the SuperMotocross World Championship. All three riders have a history of success with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing, earning a combined total of nine 250 class titles and a 450 class title.

The Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing 450 team would like to thank its partners for their continued support of its championship-winning program: Monster Energy, Yamaha Racing, Yamalube, Yamaha Financial Services (YMFUS), Progressive Insurance, bLU cRU, D’Cor Rekluse, JE Pistons, FMF, KYB, Dunlop, GYTR, Braking, Cycra, D.I.D., AFAM, Kite, VP Fuels, CWI, Twin Air, Parts Unlimited, Motion Pro, Vortex Ignitions, Matrix Concepts, Mechanics Wear, and Optima?

Cooper Webb #1 YZ450F and #2 YZ450F

Reigning 450SX Champion Cooper Webb returns with the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing 450 team for his third season aboard the YZ450F in the SuperMotocross World Championship. Part of an elite group of seven riders with three or more premier class titles in Monster Energy AMA Supercross, the six-time AMA Supercross/Motocross Champion is ready to defend his crown in 2026.

Webb made his pro debut with the team in 2013. Together, they notched an impressive tally of wins and earned back-to-back Monster Energy AMA Supercross 250SX West Championships in 2015 and 2016, as well as the 2016 Pro Motocross 250MX Championship. The North Carolina rider went on to be a dominant force in the premier class, securing Monster Energy AMA Supercross 450SX titles in 2019 and 2021.

At the end of the 2023 season, Webb officially began his return to Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing in front of a home-state crowd at the inaugural SMX World Championship Playoff 1 at zMAX Dragway in Concord, North Carolina. He scored solid results during his debut aboard the all-new YZ450F, finishing third overall at the SMX Finals at the LA Memorial Coliseum and fourth in the 450SMX standings. He also had another strong podium performance at the Paris Supercross, ending the two-day event third overall.

2024 was a rollercoaster season for Webb, but a welcome return to the team where he enjoyed a lot of success aboard the YZ250F. His never-quit attitude and gritty performances saw him battle for the 450SX Championship all the way to the final round. Even with a thumb injury in the later part of the season, he finished runner-up in 450SX with four wins and a total of nine podiums and then secured a top-five finish in the 450SMX Championship despite being sidelined for 10 rounds of the 31-round series. Webb also stepped up for Team USA on short notice, racing the 250 at the Motocross of Nations and contributing to the squad’s runner-up finish at Matterly Basin in the U.K. He then continued his off-season success overseas and earned his first King of Paris Championship in Paris, France.

In 2025, Webb claimed his third Monster Energy AMA Supercross 450SX Championship. It was a hard-fought title campaign that went down to the final round, with the North Carolina rider earning five wins and a total of 13 podiums. After time away from the Pro Motocross Championship, Webb had a strong return outdoors, scoring five top-10 results before unfortunately injuring his knee at RedBud. Despite missing five rounds of the SMX World Championship, he had a strong finish in the SMX Playoffs, ending the year sixth overall in 450SMX.

Justin Cooper #32 YZ450F

Justin Cooper returns for his ninth season with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing and will battle for top honors aboard the YZ450F in the SuperMotocross World Championship. 2026 also marks his third year in the premier class, where he looks to continue his upward trend in both Monster Energy AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross.

Before turning pro in 2017 at Unadilla MX, Cooper added two AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships at Loretta Lynn’s and nine major amateur motocross championships to his résumé. He was also crowned the 2017 AMA Arenacross Lites East Champion and was awarded the Nicky Hayden AMA Motocross Horizon Award.

In his first season with the team, Cooper impressed with a third-overall finish in the 2018 250MX championship. From there, his forward momentum continued. In 2019, he finished second overall in the 250SX East Championship with six podiums and went on to take his first overall AMA Pro Motocross win in Florida, finishing third in the 250MX Championship. The New Yorker’s efforts earned him a coveted seat on Team USA for the 2019 Motocross of Nations.

Cooper scored his first Supercross win at the 2020 season opener in Anaheim, California, and went on to finish the year runner-up in the 250SX West Championship. After coming back from a pre-season injury, he made a late-season charge in the AMA Pro Motocross 250MX Championship, returning to the top of the podium at Thunder Valley to finish fifth in the standings.

In 2021, Cooper enjoyed a successful season aboard the YZ250F, taking three wins en route to the Monster Energy AMA Supercross 250SX West crown. He then backed it up with a great outdoor season, coming just shy of the Pro Motocross 250MX title in the end, but led the way in qualifying and holeshots and scored seven moto wins.

Although 2022 got off to a tough start with an injury that ended his supercross season before it started, Cooper finished the year on a high note. He scored a couple of moto wins in the latter half of the outdoor season and played an important role in Team USA’s Motocross of Nations victory at RedBud MX, where he also took the overall win in the MX2 class.

In 2023, Cooper got some seat time aboard the YZ450F in Supercross, racing five rounds and finishing inside the top 10 with a best result of sixth on a very physically demanding Daytona Supercross track. He then returned to the 250 class and made one last title run aboard the YZ250F in Pro Motocross. Despite adversity, including a practice crash at High Point that kept him from lining up for the motos, Cooper rallied back to finish second overall in the 250MX Championship with four moto wins and a total of 12 podiums.

Cooper had a solid first full season aboard the YZ450F in 2024 and continued to make progress throughout the SuperMotocross World Championship. At the Monster Energy AMA Supercross season finale in Salt Lake City, Utah, he scored a runner-up finish to earn his first premier-class podium and was sixth in the 450SX standings. Cooper continued to build momentum outdoors, finishing fourth in the 450MX points standings with two overall podiums and eight top-five overall finishes. His combined efforts in both Supercross and Pro Motocross gave him a top-five seed in the SMX Playoffs, where he would finish the year eighth overall despite racing with a cracked collarbone that he sustained at the penultimate round of the three-round post-season.

In 2025, Cooper showed strength in the highly competitive 450 class championships. He finished third overall in the 450SX Championship with four podium finishes and a pair of heat race wins. In Pro Motocross, he added three overall podiums and a total of five moto podiums, finishing fourth in the 450MX standings. His collective Supercross and Motocross results earned him the top seed for the 450SMX Playoffs, where he secured a top-five overall finish. Cooper closed the year by representing Team USA at the 2025 Motocross of Nations, stepping in on short notice to race the MX2 class aboard the YZ250F at Ironman Raceway. Once again, he would play a key role in Team USA’s result, with the team earning silver medals and Cooper finishing second overall in MX2.

Haiden Deegan #1 YZ250F and #38 YZ450F

Reigning 250SX West and 250MX Champion Haiden Deegan enters his fifth season with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing and moves up to the 450 team for the 2026 SuperMotocross World Championship. The Californian has enjoyed a lot of success aboard the team’s YZ250F, earning five 250 class titles in just three seasons. In 2026, he will first defend his crown in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross 250SX West Championship before making his 450 class debut in Pro Motocross and the SMX Playoffs.

At a young age, Haiden was already one of the sport’s most recognized stars, gaining a huge following on social media with the popular YouTube series – The Deegans. He signed with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing as an amateur in the Fall of 2021 and immediately found success with the team. Deegan made his pro debut in 2022 at the penultimate round of the Pro Motocross Championship at Ironman Raceway, and went on to earn a top-10 finish at the season finale in Pala, California.

Making his Monster Energy AMA Supercross debut at the 2023 Eastern Regional season opener, Deegan ended the year runner-up in the 250SX East Championship and was named 250 Rookie of the Year. It was an impressive debut season for the young rider, who made three trips to the podium and never finished outside of the top 10. That success carried over into the Pro Motocross Championship as Deegan continued to add more milestones to his checklist and was a title contender. He ultimately finished the season fourth in the 250MX points standings with three moto wins and two overall victories, and was also awarded Rookie of the Year honors for his stellar achievements outdoors. Deegan went on to finish his 2023 season in style, securing the 250SMX Championship in front of the home crowd at the LA Memorial Coliseum in a thrilling down-to-the-wire title fight at the SMX Finals.

Despite being less than 100% coming off a preseason injury, Deegan earned a runner-up finish in the 2024 Monster Energy AMA Supercross 250SX East Championship with three wins and a total of five podiums. From there, it was Deegan domination as the 18-year-old claimed the Pro Motocross 250MX Championship a weekend early, finishing the year with seven overall wins and a total of 10 moto wins. In the postseason, the Californian continued to set the bar for the competition, winning five out of six motos en route to claiming his second-consecutive 250SMX Championship.

In 2025, Deegan continued his top form, earning his first title in Monster Energy AMA Supercross. He secured the 250SX West crown a weekend early and finished the season with four wins and a total of eight podium finishes. In Pro Motocross, his reign continued with back-to-back 250MX Championships. It was an empathic end to his final outdoor season aboard the YZ250F, with the 19-year-old earning seven overall wins and a total of 13 moto victories. He headed into the SMX post-season with the top seed in the 250 class and was on track to make it three in a row in the 250SMX Championship, but after some adversity in the final two rounds, he would ultimately finish fifth overall.
