All-New Minimalist Styling
The 2025 MT-07 gets an all-new stripped-back look with a minimalist LED headlight unit creating the striking new face clearly inspired by the Dark Side of Japan's distinctively modern styling aesthetic. With engineering and styling in perfect harmony, nothing is added to the MT-07 unless it truly enhances the riding experience. The result is a motorcycle which connects to its rider in a way few others can match.
New YCC-T, YRC Riding Modes & Switchable TCS
A new Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) contributes to an even more linear power delivery to create a greater connection between rider and machine while enabling a new generation of electronic aids including Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) with three available throttle maps and switchable Traction Control. YRC includes two quick-select preset modes (SPORT and STREET) along with a customizable YRC mode allowing the rider to match their preferred power delivery to their preferred level of Traction Control.
Acoustic Amplifying Technology
Contributing to the visceral connection between rider and machine, the new MT-07 now features a sound amplification system which harnesses the bike's induction roar, channeling it to the rider to enhance the feeling of acceleration provided by the MT's famous torque.
New Assist & Slipper Clutch
A new Assist & Slipper (A&S) clutch utilizes an assist cam and slipper cam to help inhibit excessive engine braking for a smooth, easy-to-handle feeling during downshifts while also reducing the amount of force required to pull the clutch lever for less hand fatigue. The shape of the clutch lever has also been optimized for enhanced feel.
Highly Responsive KYB® Adjustable Suspension
A new inverted 41mm KYB® front fork offers high levels of control and a planted front-end feel when cornering and braking, all while providing the MT-07 with a more modern look. The linked-type monocross KYB® rear shock is optimized to match the rigidity of the new front fork, creating a more sporting ride.
New Radially Mounted Front Brakes
Providing next-level stopping power, the 2025 MT-07 features large twin discs gripped by radially mounted 4-piston brake calipers. The design facilitates strong and consistent braking performance thanks to the increased rigidity, which ensures forces are equally distributed during hard braking.
Lightweight SpinForged Wheels
Contributing to a lighter and more agile MT-07, the wheels have been manufactured using Yamaha's patented SpinForged technology. This allows for a thinner and lighter casting, without compromising strength.
New Five-Inch TFT & Enhanced Connectivity
A new five-inch full-color TFT instrument display features four selectable themes. Enhanced connectivity allows riders to receive message notifications, calls and listen to music (through use of an aftermarket Bluetooth® headset, not provided). Additionally, full turn-by-turn navigation is now available through the Garmin® StreetCross app.
New Switchgear & Self-Cancelling Indicators
A new integrated handlebar switch assembly enables operation of the MT-07's wider range of functions viewable on the new TFT display, including smartphone connectivity, YRC riding modes and navigating menu options. New turn signal functions further enhance the riding experience. A soft click of the indicator switch will flash the turn signals three times, while a full click will flash continuously. Turn signals also self-cancel after 15 seconds and once the bike has travelled for more than 500 feet.
Commanding Riding Position
To match the more rigid frame and sport-oriented suspension, ergonomics of the latest MT-07 are now more engaged with wide tapered aluminum handlebars that are slightly lower and closer to the rider, along with a slimmer fuel tank and seat for an easier reach to the ground, enhanced hold with the knees and stronger sense of connection to the machine.
Advanced Twin-Cylinder DOHC Engine
The MT-07 features the renowned 689cc liquid-cooled, inline twin cylinder CP2 engine with fuel injection. The fun and characterful CP2 provides both outstanding low- to mid-range torque and strong high-rpm pulling power. Always known for its engaging response and linear torque delivery, internal upgrades to the 2025 MT-07 provide even more accessible performance, improved torque curve and a vibrant soundtrack.
Updated Frame & Swingarm Design
The MT-07's frame is revised for higher rigidity and strength, providing nimble, agile handling. Using the engine as a stressed member of the chassis allows for a light, compact main frame design, contributing to the bike's low wet weight of only 403 pounds. The swingarm is also revised to optimize rigidity to suit the new inverted front fork and updated frame, contributing to clearer feedback from the road and enhanced stability.
Enhanced Smartphone Connectivity
Riders can link their smartphone to the MT-07's TFT display via Yamaha's free Y-Connect app. Enhanced functionality now includes ability to receive message notifications, calls and listen to music (through use of an aftermarket Bluetooth® headset, not provided). Additionally, full turn-by-turn navigation is available through the Garmin® StreetCross app to make each journey easier.
Next-Generation Design
The 2025 MT-07 gets an all-new minimalist design inspired by its MT-09 sibling. The completely revamped LED headlight and position light design creates the striking new face of Japan's Dark Side, while a new fuel tank, taillight, swingarm and inverted fork betray its more aggressive, sporting intentions.
Advanced Twin-Cylinder Engine
The MT-07 features the compact 689cc liquid-cooled, inline twin cylinder, DOHC CP2 engine with fuel injection. The fun and characterful CP2 engine provides both outstanding low- to mid-range torque and strong high-rpm pulling power. Fuel injection settings are optimized for seamless, linear throttle response characteristics, even when the throttle is slightly open at low rpm.
Crossplane Crankshaft Concept
The two-cylinder engine features Yamaha's Crossplane Crankshaft Concept 270-degree crank that provides linear torque development in response to the rider's throttle input. Offering excellent rider-machine communication, the CP2 engine is also light, slim and compact.
Compact Stacked Transmission
The six-speed transmission stacks the input/output shafts in a triangular layout. Keeping the overall engine size shorter from front-to-back, the placement in the frame is optimized for outstanding weight balance. The transmission ratios bring out the best of the low- to mid-speed torque with excellent response characteristics to reduce the need for frequent shifts.
Midship Exhaust System
By placing the muffler low in the frame and as close to the center of the machine as possible, the bike's mass is centralized for improved all around handling.
Offset Cylinder Block
The CP2 engine shifts its cylinder bores slightly forward, towards the exhaust side which reduces piston-to-cylinder wall friction, resulting in more power and improved fuel economy.
