Advanced Self-Leveling Suspension
The Wolverine X4 850 XT-R features well-damped suspension at all four corners for enhanced chassis control and handling feel. High performance KYB® piggyback front shocks built specifically for Yamaha are fully adjustable with spring preload, rebound, and high- and low-speed compression damping, allow tuning to suit a wide range of driver preferences and conditions. Advanced self-leveling rear shocks automatically adjust to changes in vehicle load. Not only does this system maintain ideal chassis geometry and eliminate the need to adjust shock preload, the system is completely self-contained and requires no heavy air compressors or electric motors.
Adventure Pro Ready
The Wolverine X4 850 XT-R comes pre-wired for Yamaha’s exclusive Adventure Pro® GPS system, unlocking the next level of trail-ready navigation. This state-of-the-art GPS unit combines a range of functions into a single, rugged 7-inch full-color display. Search, download, record and share trail routes. Maximum Versatility
In addition to the ability to comfortably seat four adults, the Wolverine X4 850 XT-R features an ingenious storage system for cargo flexibility. By folding and sliding the rear seats forward, the rear cargo area expands and transports up to 600 pounds with the multiple steel tie-down points to secure cargo. It also boasts a towing capacity of up to 2,000 pounds.
On-Command® 4WD
Industry-exclusive three-position On-Command® 4WD system lets you switch between 2WD, limited-slip 4WD, and fully locked differential 4WD. Unlike competitors’ automatic 4WD systems, On-Command® puts the driver in full control to make the most of available traction in various types of terrain.

Responsive and Reliable Ultramatic® Transmission
Yamaha’s Ultramatic® transmission is the most advanced—and durable—CVT drive system available. An automatic centrifugal clutch maintains constant belt tension for reduced wear, and a sprag clutch delivers natural all-wheel engine braking.
Smooth and Powerful Twin-Cylinder Engine
The Wolverine X4 850 XT-R is powered by an 847cc DOHC eight-valve parallel-twin engine featuring a full range of advanced Yamaha technology. Forged pistons and connecting rods ensure durable high-rpm performance with Yamaha’s 270° Crossplane Concept Crankshaft for linear torque development and excellent power throughout the rpm range. To improve efficiency, the engine features a dry-sump design for a more compact layout and an offset cylinder block to reduce friction losses. Rubber engine mounts and a geared counterbalancer ensure smooth running from idle to redline.
Yamaha Chip Controlled-Throttle (YCC-T)
The Wolverine X4 850 XT-R engine utilizes YCC-T®, a drive-by-wire system that converts the driver’s commands into digital throttle control. Throttle response is further improved thanks to a quick-response servo motor, precision fuel injectors and a high-volume airbox with two-stage air filtration.
