Ferrandis Finishes Fourth at Washougal
Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Dylan Ferrandis finished fourth overall with a 3- 5 score despite challenging conditions at the Washougal National / Jul 22, 2023 /
Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Dylan Ferrandis notched his 12th moto podium of the season at yesterday’s eighth round of the Pro Motocross Championship at the Washougal MX Park. The Frenchman ended the day fourth overall with a 3-5 moto score despite challenging conditions and heads into the break with a strong runner-up position in the 450MX championship.
Ferrandis qualified fifth to have a good gate pick for the first moto. After the gate drop, the Frenchman got a flying start, grabbing the holeshot aboard his YZ450F with the special 1993 livery that was part of the global celebration of 50 years of the YZ. He was running a strong pace up front but ultimately crossed the line third for his 12th moto podium of the season. In Moto 2, Ferrandis took another holeshot, but the hard-packed conditions made for a challenging moto. He continued to push on to score a top-five finish for fourth overall, maintaining second in the points standings with three rounds remaining.
The Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team heads back to the Farm in Cairo, Georgia, as the series goes on a two-week break. The championship battle resumes at the Unadilla National on August 12 for Round 9 of the Pro Motocross Championship and the 26th round of the SuperMotocross World Championship in Unadilla, New York.
Jeremy Coker – Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing 450 Team Manager“Today was another day where we realized we still have some work to do as a team. We will utilize these two weeks off to the fullest extent and will come out swinging at Unadilla.
Dylan Ferrandis – Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing“It was a tough weekend at Washougal. The track was really hard-packed. I got a good start in both motos, but it wasn’t enough. I finished third in the first moto, and in the second moto, I was struggling on the track and couldn’t get the speed and finished fifth. It’s disappointing, but that’s racing. We have a break now, so we are going to rest a little bit and see what we can do to come back stronger.”
