Ferrandis’ Podium Streak Continues at Spring Creek
Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Dylan Ferrandis overcomes adversity to finish third overall at the Spring Creek National / Jul 16, 2023 /
Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Dylan Ferrandis scored his third-consecutive overall podium despite not feeling comfortable in challenging conditions at the Spring Creek MX Park in Millville, Minnesota. The Frenchman fought back to fifth in Moto 1 and improved to third in Moto 2, earning his 11th moto podium of the season and ending yesterday’s Round 7 of the Pro Motocross Championship with a third overall finish.
After qualifying fifth, Ferrandis didn’t get the start he was hoping for in the first moto and was eighth on the opening lap. The 2021 450MX Champion kept pushing and made his way into the top five around the halfway point. In the final laps, he had a podium finish in sight but nearly went down and quickly recovered to finish fifth.
Ferrandis got a much better start in the second moto and slotted into fourth. Running a strong pace, he made the pass for third before the halfway mark and held off the competition to cross the line third for third overall. With four rounds remaining, he maintains a strong position in the runner-up spot in the 450MX Championship. The Frenchman also made gains in the SuperMotocross World Championship standings, advancing to eighth despite missing most of the supercross season.
The Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team heads to Washington State for round eight of the Pro Motocross Championship and the 25th round of the SuperMotocross World Championship at the Washougal MX Park on July 22.
Jeremy Coker – Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing 450 Team Manager“Today was a tough track for us. Although Dylan said the bike was the best it had been, we still struggled to get him comfortable. We will not give up on our end and will keep pushing to finish this championship strong.”
Dylan Ferrandis – Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing“It was a difficult day at Millville. I was surprised that I was struggling with the bike. We were getting better the last few rounds, and this week during testing at the Farm, the bike was good. So yeah, I don’t know with this track. It was very hard-packed and slippery, and I was just struggling a lot with myself and the bike. It was a bummer. We lost some energy to try and improve, and a bad start in Moto 1 was not very helpful. In the second moto, I got a better start, and I just did what I could. Third overall was the best I could do today, but for sure, it’s not enough.”
